Barcelona Vertical (2009)

Competition proposal for the dense and repetitive Eixample grid of Barcelona. The tower rises above the surrounding building mass and explores the organisation of structural planar geometries into an assembly that offers diverse environmental and spatial conditions across its vertical development. The tower is the result of a developed architectural method to apply and use evolutionary algorithms in a design context.

The project research work was published in the 'International Journal of Architectural Computing' (2010) Vol. 8. No.4 with the paper entitled 'Function Follows Performance in Evolutionary Computational Processing'.

The design project was furthermore published in MARK magazine #21 (2009).

Status: Competition entry / Unbuilt
